Need to setup ICS on a workstation. I was wondering instead of useing the
default ip address of 192.168.0.1 can i use 192.168.0.254. That is what all
the computers in the network are point to for gateway and one of the servers
in the network already has .1 for an ip address and can not change. Any
help would be great.

Thanks in advance

i dont think you can change the IP which is automatically
assigned by ICS,

but have many work around option like using a router, or
configure RRAS with NAT instead of ICS.

Hi Paul,

The DHCP allocator settings in ICS are not configurable. If you set up ICS
on your workstation you will need to change the IP of your server. If the
clients are already configured as DHCP clients, they will autonmatically
change their default gateways once you get ICS running. If you already have
a DHCP server on the network you will have conflicts with ICS since it also
runs a DHCP allocator service. Instead you may want to consider running
RRAS/NAT on a Windows 2000 Server - advantages include the ability to
configure your own IP address scheme and run a separate DHCP server.

Marc,
if I use NIC 1 in my ICS server to connect to the internet
and NIC 2 for the home network, does the ICS DHCP server
allocate IP addresses for the network attached to NIC 2
(private LAN) or also for the internet connected to NIC 1 ?
In other words does the ICS server work like a standard
DSL/cable router (DHCP client to the internet and DHCP
server for the private LAN) ?

Thanks for your help,

Ludger -
