Andrew

I have a small network of 2 PCs. The server running WinXP
has a shared DSL (with NO firewall) connection. Internet
browsing works perfectly fine from my server machine.
File sharing also works from my client machine (WinME).
However for some strange reason DNS addresses are not
being resolved on my client pc. From IE6 if I type
www.google.com i get a 'Page not found' error, however
the page get loaded when typing it's ip address
216.239.59.99.

Please help.
Andrew

Did you manually configure the IP address settings on the ME machine?
If so, you didn't add the DNS settings - look at the DNS server IP address
on the XP box and add it on the ME box.

I have a simliar problem. The host resolves ALL
webpages, and the clients on ICS resolve most, but
not "www.ebay.com" or "www.tigerdirect.com" for
instance. All other functions on the network are OK.
There are no firewall issues, and the permissions are all
set at lowest without help. I thought these sites might
be different in that they have secure elements, and all
the advanced options (ssl2 SSL3 etc.) are checked in
internet explorer. Oddly, "www.amazon.com" and other
proprietary sites seem to be OK.My network has 2 Wired
LAN clients and 1 Wireless LAN client. All behave in the
same way.
