I realise I might be in a fringe forum with this request, but please help or
point me to the right forum.

Hi, I'm having a devil of a time with setting up Internet Connection
Sharing. Something I've done dozens of times before without effort. There
must be something different or old age is setting in. Here goes...

host WinXP sp2 192.168.0.1 / 255.255.255.0
client Win2K sp4 192.168.0.2 / 255.255.255.0 gateway 192.168.0.1
IE6 Tools Internet Options | Connection set to LAN (automatically detect
settings is cleared). I tried both ways.

The host runs NAV Internet Work Protection that permits 192.168.0.2
The client runs ZoneAlarm with 192.168.0.1 permited in the trusted & Intenet
zone .

The network works fine, but the client browser does not establish a
connection.

I'm sorry guys, I'm beaten with this after spending a day on it (on and off).

Any Ideas please

TIA, Simon

Not sure what you mean " the client browser does not establish a connection". Assuming you can't browse client from my network places, can you ping it?

Hi
I can see the host files in My Network Place and I can ping the host from
the Win2K client (and vise versa). But when I open the browser(IE6) on the
Win2K client I get a message saying 'The Page Can Not Be Display...'

I have not had this problem before. The only thing I've done which is
different is installed .Net Framework Beta 2 on the Win2K client.

Can you help? TIA, Simon

Hi

I've figured it out.

ICS is part of Windows Firewall in WinXP - which was turned off in favour of
NAV Internet Worm Protection: When installing NAV 2005 I was directed by the
dialogue to turn off Windows Firewall in favour of using NAV.

I have reconfigured the client to use DHCP and everything works fine. NAV
knowledgebase lacks information regarding this which is a surprise and a
dissapointement. Thanks again, Simon

Thank you for the feedback.
