ICS Internet Connection Sharing

I have one computer that connects directly to the internet and one that is
in a home network that shares the internet connection through the first
computer. The computer that connects to the internet directly can access
any web pages etc. but the 2nd machine that shares the connection can only
display certain pages and on some it simply acts as if the target web-site
is down i.e. cannot display the page. With the 2nd machine I can sometimes
get to the first web page on a site but then it fails to display subsequent
pages. The 1st machine can see any pages. I have checked off all possible
authorization/Security options for my browser but do not understand why I
cannot see web pages from my second machine? Does anyone have an idea what
this might be??

You may want to ask this question in a Windows newsgroup. Microsoft
Access(TM) is a database program; one aspect of the program is Queries
- and that's what microsoft.public.access.queries is intended to
discuss.

look at several things:
1. Has it ever worked before, if so, what changed.
2. You may have ICS enabled on the wrong adapter in the first
computer. ICS should enabled for the virtual (redirector) card for
DSL/Cable or on the dial up adapter for dial up. I don't know if XP
may need DSL software, but my 2000 box does. I just take it for
granted that I need the redirector to use the DSL.
3. You need to delete all the page cache in the second computer.
You're probably getting cached pages.
4. As a procedure, you need to delete DNS cache on the second
computer: ipconfig /flushdns (at the c prompt)
5. As a procedure, to get an IP address you need to renew the ip on
your second computer: ipconfig /renew
6. You need to take out any ip addresses manually put into the second
computer configuration (or the first).
7. Be sure to log into the internet on the first before configuring
the second computer.
8. SSL may not work on secondary computers unless you configure
Sharing correctly with a port 443 (or other internal socket port).
This is a complex concept for a net newbie and you'll want to see a
web page about it. SSL is neccessary for most shopping on the
internet.

I've tried to get ICS to work with windows 98 and my DSL but something
was so screwy that it only worked intermittently or after disabling a
network card or some shit. 2000 works great as the ICS computer.

I can't believe I was compelled to take the time to do this... I think
I'm getting old. Is 35 old?
