I have a small network with my XP box (sharing the
internet) and two 98 boxes, one first edition and the
other second.
The first edtion computer has a little icon in the system
tray that informs the client when the gateway is
connected and also allows the client to connect to the
internet.
The second edtion computer does not have this icon and I
was wondering if anyone knew how to get it to appear
again! The internet and everything is working great, but
I really wish I had that icon! It makes it so much
easier to use the internet!

If anyone has any ideas please write me back! Thanks!

Did you ever have it on that second computer? Are you running any firewalls
on that machine?

no, I never had the icon on the se computer, and there is
no firewall on any of the computers.

To get the icon, you have to:

1. Run XP's Network Setup Wizard on the second edition computer.
2. Have Internet Explorer version 5.01 or later on that computer.
3. Not un-install or disable "Universal Plug and Play".

I've written some web pages with details:
