Here's my setup:
Dialup modem > Win XP w/ ICS > built in 10/100 > [cat-5] > Linksys
Wireless-G router [wrt54gs] > Linksys wireless-g PCI card in [wmp54gs] >
Win 2000 PC.
The I have things 'almost' working. I can browse files on the client
through the wireless network. I have the XP computer set up with ICS. On
the Win 2000 client, I can run ipconfig and see that the machine has
acquired an IP address, gateway, etc. from the XP ICS host.
On the 2000 client, I can ping a server on the [outside] internet.
But when I run IE and try browse, it always gives me a server not found
error.
On the XP host, I have disabled the built in firewall, and I instead use
Kerio (the free, home version). In the traffic graph, and in the network
tab, I can see that when I try to use IE on the client, there is
outbound traffic to my ISP. It seems to be resolving the DNS search, but
for some reason, it's not communicating the client. I *have* set the
firewall to "trust" the IP that is assigned to the client (192.168.0.59
last night). The client seems to make several attemps, each of which
seems to be passed through to the ISP, before it times out.
Any suggestions?
