ICS Client can't intiate connection

I have never been able to initiate a connection over the
network from a client machine. Autodial is working on the
host (under an administrator account only and dialpad
pops up alot - but that's a different problem).

However, if the host is *not* connected to the internet
then the client can't get there either. If i click on the
Internet Gateway Icon to connect it hangs. i've looked at
services and both Remote Access Connection Manager and
Remote Access Auto Connection Manager are started on the
client machine. On the ICS Host properties *ALL* boxes
are checked which should allow network users to connect
through the host and share the connection.

I have been working this for 3 months and my husband is
so irritated he wants a separate line for his computer.
If he gets it, the new line may be at his new house.
Please help.

Any firewalls/virus scanners running?

Does the icon eventually function again? UPnP should time out after 30
seconds or so.

Yes, the icon does after i log onto the internet at the
host and the internet gateway is "connected" but the
window itself literally stays on the desktop until i log
off or shut down. and i do have ICF running. i tried
turning it off while connecting from the client and it
still didn't work (i didn't log off the host and restart
though).

Just to be clear. You want ICF on the Internet connection of the ICS host.
But not on the connections between the two computers. ICF on the ICS client
will interfere with Gateway control.
