Have daughters computer on home network with 2 others.
Mine is host setup with ICS (192.168.0.1) as host.
Hers was working fine but now my host won't resolve her DNS
requests. Son's computer still works fine (and is exactly
the same as hers).

All network tests work except for DNS. Pings work, hers
will even ping through my host to internet

My host runs Win 2000 Pro. Hers and Sons run XP SP1.

I re-installed the home network software on her computer
and no change in behavior. I suspect an auto update died
mid task leaving her computer hosed...when her computer
boots it tries to complete an auto update but it can't due
to the DNS problem...

Anyone have any clues?

Maybe she has the qhosts virus. See
http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/trojan.qhosts.html
or maybe she has spyware on her computer. Try Spybot Search and Destroy
http://www.safer-networking.org/ or Adaware
