Heres the setup: I have a router downstairs to share the connection
b/t the downstairs and upstairs computers, but there is only one
ethernet cable running up, and I want to wire two computers to it. The
computer connected to the router has two ethernet cards. Can I use
one to connect w/ the router, and one to share the connection with a
second computer? I tried to wire the two computers together via the
second card, and enable ICS on the "host" computer. The connections
are labeled "disconnected"; the comps won't recognize that they are
wired to eachother. Maybe because the router is set up to assign IP's
to single comps, etc, I can't share that connection?? I hope I made
some sense here.. lemme know if you can think of anything?

To connect beween the computers, you'll need a crossover cable (just swap 1
& 2 with 3 & 6). You can use ICS to connect both computers to the Internet.
Each network card will have to be on a different network (or subnet). ICS
automatically makes the "LAN" connection 192.168.0.1 and supplies DHCP for
any other computers connected to that side in the 192.168.0.2 - 254 range.
If your router uses the same network, you will need to change one or the
other. You can change either, but the DHCP feature of ICS only works on the
default 192.168.0.0 network.
