ICS and Internet Explorer..... Possibly off topic!

I don't know if this is the right place to ask this.. but here goes anyway!

I have a client who has their internet connectivity set up in a really weird
way.. They use ICS to share access to the internet via a windows xp pc. This
works ok, but, 2 new laptops when trying to access certain sites just don't
work!

For example: this link works on other PC's on their network, but when using
the new laptops, it sits on a white screen and does nothing.. its as though
it's trying to do something but not being allowed.

This site is for tendering and pretty vital to their company, so if anyone
could maybe give me some pointers on why the thing won't show, I'd really
appreciate it.

I mean to say.. if eBay does not work.. it HAS to be something weird!!!!

Appears to be an alias

Make sure e.g. using tracert or ping that the DNS knows
about this address and the lookup is reliable.
In the case of tracert you can abort the output with Ctrl-c
since you only care about the first line in the response.

The first time I tried a lookup for this name it timed out.
It worked the second time.

So perhaps you should try a tracert to it in order to ensure the
local dns cache has it before IE has to do lookups for it.

BTW which OS is this for? Please disclose it any time you need help
with anything more than a question about the UI. NTx has a better
toolset than Win9x; e.g. nslookup is available standardly so if the
ping or tracert tricks don't work you could still use it to achieve
the same objective.

Finally there is a Cookie associated with that page, so in case the format
of it has changed or in case the one that IE would be presenting is
corrupt or otherwise unsuitable you could try deleting it.

Good luck
