My wife and I are different users on the same pc. When I
install programs on my desktop, the same icons show up on
hers and visa vers. How can I remove desktop icons from
mine without removing them from hers?

Many thanks to all that can help, Timmer

The icons are installed on "All Users" desktop, so all the users of the
system see them. You can move the icons from "C:\Documents and Settings\All
Users\Desktop" to "C:\Documents and Settings\<Your Wife's Username>\Desktop"
and then they won't show up in yours.

Use Windows Explorer
Navigate to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Desktop\
Here you will see all the icons that appear on both your desktop and hers
Drag the icons to this folder:
C:\Documents and Settings\{wifes username}\Desktop\
Then they will appear on her desktop but not on yours or any other users you
have set up.

Fantastic, thanks very much.
All I did was open explorer and "all users desktop" drag
and dropped the icons I wanted on my desktop only to "my
users desktop" then did the same for my wife and
everything works perfect.

Once again thanks for the quick response. Timmer
