I have been using a long time IE, now ie6sp2, just of curiosity i installed
Firefox 1.0 and i notice something: In every url that appears in the address
bar, it is shown a personalized icon of that website. However in IE, it is
always the same icon for everypage.

Why is that? is a bug or something?

Thx

I'll bet you don't see a "personalized icon" here:

AFAIK IE puts the icons in its cache, from which they can be deleted
when the cache gets full. Firefox appears to hold onto the icons more
persistantly.

I have the same problem but the address icons are rectangular boxes with a
red & blue dot. Plus, when I try to create an IE shortcut on my desktop -
it's still showing as a Firefox/Mozilla icon even though I've removed
Firefox/Mozilla. What can I do to return to having the blue e from IE showing

I believe the remedy may be to make sure IE is your default browser.
You'll find this option at the bottom of the IE/Properties/Program menu.

Sorry it's been so long and thanks for your reply. I'm new to this - how do I
get to IE/Properties/Program menu?

IE-Tools-Internet Options-Programs.
Check the box "Internet Explorer should check to see whether it is the
default browser"
Close IE and reopen it.

....Alan

I opened it up and the box was still checked. I unchecked it, re-checked it,
clicked Apply, then closed IE and reopened IE, didn't change anything. When I
tried to click on a link in a document, the dialogue box said, "No program
registered to open this file."
