Icons in the wireless network tab

i notice that there are several different icons in the
wireless network window, some are redio beacons (actually
look more like pawns), some are beacons with a circle
around the top, some look like erasers with a strap.
anyonne know what the meaning of these different isocn
might be??

the beacons are infrastructure (access points, routers)
the other is ad hoc (peer to peer/computer to computer)
