icons in the taskbar

Hello all you w2k gurus!

I've heard that it will significantly slow your computer
down if you put a lot of shortcuts in the taskbar.
I wonder if that is true?

What's "a lot of shortcuts"? 50? 100?
I have 25 shortcuts and have no performance hit at all.
