On adding a new favorite to the IE Favorites area, the new
favorite will have a site supplied specific ICON. After
shutdowns of the system or IE, the favorites area no
longer as the specific customized icon but a generic
Windows 'e' icon. How can I retain the 'custom' icon that
was caputured when the favorite was created (add to
favorites)..
Thanks

That is usually in your temporary internet files. You must have your
Internet Options set to flush the temp file when you close the browser. The
file type is "favorite icon".
You could make a folder to keep the icons in and then move new ones before
you close out IE. If you right click on one of your favorites a box will
come up and you want the tab that says "Web Document" and look for the
"change icon" button, then you would have to point to your new folder with
your saved icons. Either that or clean out the temp file by hand.

The favorites icons are deleted once the Temporary Internet Files are
cleared. This is by design.

The program "FavOrg" preserves the favorites icon permanently. You may
