Icons Disappearing

When I first add links into my favourite menu, many of
them have customised icons to represent their shortcuts.
But after a few minutes, or even days, these custom icons
disappear, and are replaced with normal Internet Explorer
icons. How can I prevent this from happening in future?

Switch to Mozilla.

Favicons are only temporary until cleared from your cache.
To make them permanent:
