hello, all --
i've searched the forums and have seen similar Qs but not what appears to me
to be EXACTLY the same Q, but i apologize in advance if i am inadvertently
duplicating an inquiry that has already been resolved elsewhere.
somehow i have gotten two icons on my desktop for the "fonts" folder. #1
icon HAS the little arrow, and if i right-click it, i get a long menu that
includes a "create shortcut/delete/rename" pod in it. if i click on
"delete," the icon disappears.
#2 icon does NOT have the little arrow, and if i right-click it, i get a
only short menu that says "open/explore/norton security/paste/create
shortcut." in other words, there is no option for deleting the icon.
i've tried everything i can think of to make icon #2 disappear, or to pull
up the long menu when i right-click the icon, but the short menu keeps
appearing and icon #2 stubbornly clings for life to the desktop. i would be
very grateful to anyone who can enlighten me as to what i should try next.
FYI, i am on IE8, XP with SP3. i have norton internet security 2009 and am
religious about periodically scanning manually in addition to the scheduled
scans.
thank you in advance for any insights.
