Icon show desktop disappeared from taskbar

I don't know how the icon disappeared from the taskbar and
appeared in the desktop. There is no way to put it back
into the taskbar(next to START button). I tried copying,
dragging, moving, but nothing happened. I called EMachines
for technical support and after 3 hour they gave up. Can
somebody help me? Thanks

Is the Quick Launch Toolbar still there? If not right click an empty spot on
the task bar, point to "Tool Bars" and click Quick Launch. (might need to
unlock the Taskbar, same right click menu)

Here's a couple of ways to restore the Show Desktop icon if need be.
