hi ....
I have noticed that there are a lot of icon on my taskbar
in the bottom right cornenr of the screen.. and thay are
all for programs that I don't run regularly .. and Ii
have noticed that the more the icon get .. the slower the
computer becomes.. how can I remove these programs from
running automatically when the computer is turned on ?

thank you

These programs are being loaded during startup. Start > Run > msconfig >
Startup and uncheck those you don't want starting at startup.

The best way to remove them is to open each one (right-
click on the icon) and see if there's an option to prevent
them from starting automatically. Otherwise, you can run
the MSCONFIG utility, Startup tab and uncheck them
individually. See this:

It's possible that some are spyware programs. Search
Google for the filenames or look here:

I hope you're running anti-virus and anti-spyware programs.

You are wise to be suspicious, not only for malevolent
programs but also because sofware vendors will do ANYTHING
to put their name in your face. RealPlayer, QuickTime,
etc. are prime examples. Due diligence pays dividends.

Good Luck !
