When I run Outlook 2003, the icon goes in the systray.
When I exit Outlook, the icon stays there, even though
Outlook is closed. Once I exit, I can't open Outlook
again, until I reboot.

Any suggestions on how to fix or what is happening?

Thanks.

Are you running any software that integrates with Outlook?
WinFax, virusscanners, synchronisation software for PDA/phone, etc... These
are all programs that could keep Outlook running.

The issue that keeps you from restarting is that the MAPI session that Outlook uses is not closing out. The MAPI session is not ending. This is an issue in Outlook 2003 usually with SQL installed.

George, how do you get the MAPI to close?

Thanks.

You are supposed to just close Outlook. It's a stuipid bug and sooner or later it will be recognized. But in the mean time you can check to make sure that winword and outlook are not running in the Task Manager. But even that may not be sufficient. The only sure fire way to make sure the MAPI session has been closed besides some VBA coding (which may have been disabled you know in this version of Outlook they have disabled everything else) is to restart the machine.

I don't know if Outlook now is to be an ass without Echange or what. All I know is the issues in this application are all over the map:

1) Rules effect outgoing mail
2) Maximaize from the System Tray is BROKE!
3) MAPI Session is NOT released
4) VBA has been disabled to almost worthless
5) Slow as hell startup when the Outlook Today is chosen as the startup folder
6) Defaulting to massive irritation of "Who needs this junk?" after a default install

Other then that I guess it works.
