Checkdisk (chkdsk.exe in the windows\system32 folder) is the disk tool that
is used instead of Scandisk. It can be launched from a command prompt
window (type chkdsk /? for a list of switches) or you can click the "Check
Now" button on the Tools page of any drive's properties sheets.

I am looking to add a shrtcut icon in the system tools under start menu just like I have a shortcut icon for disk defragmenter, if anyone knows how please let me know, thank you.

follow this path...
------------------
start button
-all programs
--accessories
---system tools
right-click "disk cleanup"
select "pin to start menu"
.........or......
select "send to >" ... "desktop shortcut"
then drag to launch area next to start button.

You can create a shortcut to any object. "Chkdsk.exe" is the file in XP
that runs the disk tool similar to the old Scandisk. Find the file
(windows\system32 folder). Right click on it. Select Send To> Desktop [as a
shortcut]. You can then drag and drop that newly created shortcut to any
location in the Start Menu.
