Hi

Ho do I get my computer to display the '2 computers' icon
in the task bar to show that the computer is connected to
the internet? Many thanks for any advice.

I think you're referring to the network connection status
icon. If so, do the following:

Go to Start|Settings|Control Panel|Network Connections.
Double-click Network Connections, right-click on the
connection you use to connect to the Internet and choose
properties, then on the General tab put a check in the box
"Show Icon notification when connected." Hope this helps.

If you are referring to the icon in the System Tray next to the clock, try
this...
-Right-click Taskbar in blank area and unmark "Lock the Taskbar".
-Right-click Taskbar in blank area again, select Properties. In the dialog
box, be sure the Taskbar tab is the one to front.
-Click on Customize button in lower-right corner. This brings up a list of
all Systray items and their status. Find the icon you refer to (Mine has my
ISP name by it.) and highlight it. This gets a down-pointing triangle to
the right next to what status is. Click on the triangle, then on"Hide when
inactive".
-Apply and OK to close. Then re-lock the Taskbar.
The icon should now be displayed while you are connected.
