Many (but not all!) of the specific icons which have been on my computer for
ages have suddenly been replaced by plain generic icons, bearing no relation
to the subject.
The changes have occurred (apparently) at random but affect some of those on
the desktop, the Start menu, the All Program list and even some in the My
Documents folder where some of the 'folder' icons have changed. The changes
are not consistent to the subject - for example, an icon which has been
replaced on the desktop may still exist in the program list or vice versa.
Restoring to an earlier date does not affect the changes and the original
'happy state' is not restored! AdAware and Spybot show no 'funnies' and a
Norton Antivirus scan is clear.
I am running Windows XP with automatic updates set.
Any ideas? ... please!
