Icon cache needs to be enlarged?

Someone in the MS Word discussion group suggested that enlarging the icon
cache might solve this issue: After upgrading from the Office Professional
Edition 2000 to Editon 2003, the MS icon is displayed instead of the Word
icon for Word files. All other icons; Excel, Access, Publisher and
PowerPoint display properly. I've run the "Detect and Repair" utility and
the "Reregister" utility with no success.

If you think enlarging the icon cache might help and know how to do that,
please tell me how. Of course, if you've encountered this problem and found
a remedy, please tell me how to make those icons reappear.

Thanks for your help.

Delete the iconcache file and let Windows rebuild it.

Thanks Bob. I tried it. Here's what I did.

1) searched for file named "iconcache", found only one file named:
"shelliconcache" in the C:\WINNT folder at 361 kb
2) deleted the file: no change
3) rebooted: no change
4)searched for "iconcache" file: none found
5) moved deleted file from recycle bin to zip disk in case it was still
having an effect
6) rebooted: no change
7) searched for "iconcache" file: found "shelliconcache" file in C:\WINNT
folder at 360 kb

That must not be the problem. Thanks for your help, Bob.

If no change, perhaps go to Folder Options, File Types, select DOC and
then advanced and change icon.

Somebody knows what they're doing! That was the problem. It said that documents had been "customized". I clicked the "restore to default" button and now I have my icons back.

Thanks for your help, Bob.
