Windows 7 Icon Arrows

Hi,
Does anyone know how to remove the shortcut arrows from desktop icons in Windows 7 ?
I did it on my old computer which was running Windows xp but can't remember how .
Thanks for any replies/advice .

If you are comfortable making registry changes then you can run this file to remove the shortcut arrows : http://www.windows7mods.com/2009/01/26/remove-shortcut-arrow-icon-in-windows-7/

Otherwise, you can use this Windows 7 tool to do it via a graphical interface : http://www.thewindowsclub.com/ultimate-windows-tweaker-v2-a-tweak-ui-for-windows-7-vista

Hi Ian,

Many thanks for quick reply.
I'm not brave enough to alter the registry in any way.
I think there must have been a simpler option in xp as I'm sure I would not have changed anything in the registry.
I'll look into the other option you have listed.

don't put any icons/shortcuts on the desktop ... sorted
