Normally in Windows as you drag an icon across the desktop to move it, the
image is animated as you drag. You can move it fairly exactly.

On Vista this animation is not present. Can it be turned on, and if so, how?

If you change the theme to Classic or Aero Express
(http://www.vistabase.co.uk/welcome.php?subcats/graphics/switchaeroexpressglass)
then I don't think it does.

no.. aero express at least on build 308 has the same effect... I think on
classic too...
but I am not totally sure.

Will have to look....

I don't see any difference at all when I drag an icon across my XP desktop
then my Vista desktop. And it's easy to put it wherever I want in both
cases. Is this something that showed up in a later build, or in a specific
Theme or something?

I did notice, however, that it isn't as easy to select multiple icons in
folders by dragging the mouse pointer. Anyone notice that?

I am running Classic now, and it does not work there. As it is dragged, the
mouse point and a tiny box just below it are shown, but no icon outline. As
a result placing it accurately is less easy.

In XP you see the icon as you drag it.
