I have a PC in NJ (XP Pro) that's connected directly to
the internet through a cable modem. My computer in PA
connects to the internet through a Netgear router.

Last week I could connect to the NJ computer using
HTTP://no-ip.com_address:TCP_Port/tsweb. At that time the
NJ computer did not have the ICF turned on.

Now I've activated the internet connection firewall on
the NJ computer and I can't access it. What do I need to
do on my PA computer? The router's IP address is
XX.XX.XX.01 and the PA pc is XX.XX.XX.05.

Thanks,
Scott

You need to forward/open TCP Port 80 (IIS) and TCP Port 3389 (RDP) through the ICF on the NJ
computer. If you changed either the IIS and/or RDP listening ports forward/open those instead.

Thanks for your help, Al. I was afraid you were going to
say that. I did that before I left NJ (checked and edited
both boxes for those ports under Network Connection), but
must have screwed it up. Under the "name or IP address of
the computer" I must have entered the wrong name. I
believe I used the computer name "laptop".
Since I'm obviously a novice, is it preferable to use the
IP address used in the Microsoft examples "127.0.0.1",
the IP address I get from whatsmyip.org, or the alias I'm
using "no-ip.com_IPaddress"?
I also understand I'll still include the additional TCP
port used in the tsweb command.

Open up the ICF configuration window on the laptop, select Add or Edit a particular setting, then in
the "Name or IP address" field add the network name of your PC, in this case the laptop. You should
have created a name for the laptop. To verify the correct name right click on "My Computer" and
select "Properties -> Computer Name". To create/edit right click on "My Computer" and select
"Properties -> Computer Name -> Change".
