Hi Can someone help me my IBM thinkpad t40 wont charge for some reason i
thought it was the battery so i went out a brought a new and it still wont
charge any help would be much appreciated

Does it work ok when powered by the AC adapter (external
power supply) ?

Assuming the new battery is good, there's the external power
supply and the internal power board, or some kind of
mechanical/contact problem. Inspect the battery bay and
contacts. If you can determine which contacts supply
voltage for battery you might be able to take voltage
readings there too. If/when all else fails it's time to
disassemble the system and probe the power board, or have
someone else do it.
