Hello guys, a friend of mine brought over a laptop for me to check out.
yesterday when I saw this laptop it was able to turn on fine, he had
someone check it out and now it's locked once you turn it on. there is a
small computer and a lock pad symbol in the top left corner. I did some
checking online only found 1 site that mentioned it and they where
talking about soldering some parts together and then using another pc to
dump the file in order to get the PW. Does anyone know of a better way
around this?

There is a BIOS password and possibly a supervisor password for the
BIOS. Contact IBM/Lenovo with proof of ownership or have your friend ask
the "someone" what they did.
