Some guy in Kirkland

Looks like the stock drivers are pretty freakin slow.. (DVD playback is
horrible) and rating is 1.0)

I fould some Vista drivers for the ATI Mobility Radeon 7600 but they won't
install...

anyone?

They're not, just the 9600 and up.

"Some guy" may want to try forcing acceptance of the drivers, but I wouldn't
get my hopes up.

"Accelerated" will require "advanced features". "Basic" functionality does
not include acceleration.

well, not hoping for aero on this laptop... it might be 2 years old... 64mb
video and works just fine... i have a hard time believing that ATI will
dump this video and make a 2 year old laptop obsolete...

if they do, its back to XP for this guy until i can get a laptop that can
manage video on it... very disappointing though...

I don't see why you think a 2+ year old laptop that does not support the
requirements for Aero should force MS to rewrite Vista so that it does.
I spent money so that my one year old desktop would support Aero only to
find that I did not like it all and have stopped using it completly.
It is not MS's fault that the supplier of your laptop sold you such a
minimum configuration system but I guess you bought it because you liked the
price.

is there a reason why are you such an ass?

it was a fully loaded IBM T42 with 2GB of ram and the fastest processor,
highest res lcd, memory, disk that money could buy.... they were purchased
for our consultant organization of approx 120 people... they run XP and
Linux with reckless abandon... I wanted to move to Aero for tradeshows and
events where I am showing MSFT products...

I am not asking it to support Aero if you read the messages... I am asking
it to support decent video playback... please read the entire thread or
just find someone else to pester and make useless posts...

Well, in the first place, two years is a long time in computer years. That
said ...

ATI has already drawn the "line in the sand" for Vista support and it's well
north of where you are right now. They have no intent to release Vista
drivers for devices as old as yours.
