I`m newbie in the world of IBM mainframe complexity.

Recently become an owner of retired 8-pack storage cage (full with
eight ibm p/n 18p2199 36GB SSA disks)

http://tinyurl.com/2yl4rh

and bunch of other pci card´s from IBM TotalStorage Enterprise Storage
Server Model 800 but without power supply!

Then I told my self: Let´s rock!

I want to connect the storage to windows and later Linux based mashine
with PCI Advanced SerialRAID/X adapter!

Disks are installed in the cages in groups of 8. These are called disk
8-packs (8-pack for short).
The cage provides the power connections for each 8-pack which comes
packaged into a case and slides into a slot in the cage.
here is it:

I´m google-ing / searching IBM web page ( hundreds PDF´s) more than 2
days to find out pinout list of the main backplane power 24-pin MOLEX
connector, no success!

The backplane IBM P/N 34L3273 (shark device backplane) has only 2
electrical capacitors 1800uF 25V, 1000uF 10V and few varistor/
resistor.

some possible connector layout:

Can somebody measure for me the output voltage from the power supply ?

Thanks in advance

I'll bet they are just 5 and 12 volts, as used on any harddrive.
Measure ground and both plus terminals of the capacitors against
the pins of the molex. That should tell you what's what.
