Hi I have an an IBM intellistation M pro 6898-11U, I know it's old yes.
But i have a hobby of making old technology useful again. I am looking
for a bios update for it? anyone know what the lastest version might
be? and where to find it?

thanks

but don't flash if you don't have a compelling reason for it - i.e.
some software or add-on card doesn't work, and you reasonably suspect
it to be a BIOS issue.

Well the issue is this I am getting a error of 167 : Bios processor
update not found

I just recently put in a pair of PII 333 Mhz to max out the capability
of the motherboard.
Everything works fine, customer will start up into windows and operate
fine, the errror is just annoying.

Looks like you are out of luck, unless your searching skills on IBM
site are better than mine - I couldn't find it.

On a side note: I remember seeing (years ago) an advert for a
slot-to-socket370 adaptor that claimed it would work with Celerons up
to 566 in dual config. Cel566 should be noticeably faster than
P2-333. Also P3-1000 (100MHz bus - can be had at $50 apiece) should
run at 666 in the box - that would be even faster. However with IBM
you'll never know until you try. And even if it works, you'll have to
put up with error of 167 - that's probably what it reports when the
CPU is not recognized.

that's good information I appreciated it...
Well I found out the error was due to something processor updating
option in the bios of my computer. It has something to do with the lack
of an micro code update for the processor. That's what I can find based
on my reseach anyways.
A suggestion was to flash the bios which might contain the update. But
the seems alittle to old to get an updated bios for. IBM doesn't seem
to keep it any more.
I can turn off the option but I would like to maximize the potential of
the bios if at all possible.
