Hello everyone,

I just upgraded my system from Win98 to Win 98SE. My IdeaScan stopped
working correctly, so I tried un-installing and re-installing the software
for it. The system immediately Crashed repeatedly. I remove the software and
the system returned to normal.

Does anyone know if the IdeaScan is, or is not supposed to work with Win
98SE, or is my system messed up in some way ? I know that getting the
IdeaScan to work with Win XP is a Major Challenge. I am wondering if I need
to go down that path of finding other drivers, or work on fixing my system ?

Any thoughts, input, or advice will be Greatly Appreciated,

Thank You,

Wayne R. Russ

I believe IBM posted a new driver for the IdeaScan about 6 years ago.
It may still be on their web site. Frankly, I'd just buy a new
scanner. That IdeaScan is *old* technology.

One of my daughters had an IBM Idea Scanner running under Win 98 SE for some
time. The scanner was passed to a younger sister who is still using it with
Win 98 SE on a different PC AFAIK. I repaired the scanner after it was
plugged into the wrong plug-pak, and tested it using Win2K. Despite IBM's
assurances to the contrary, it worked, but the driver generated an error
message while loading.
