This disk is formatted with 4 partitions; with ntfs on C and FAT32 on the
rest.

Any file recovery programs I tried only allows me entering and restoring the
contents on the D: drive. They find too many errors on the other partitions
as they can't detemine their file system.

The the drive sounds like it is trying to read the same sect. over and over
again, and the search takes a looong time.

My question is: Are there any suggestions on Recovery program that can help
me out when the file system seems unknow(do such progs excist?)......?

I had the same thing happen on my 60GXP and Hitachi RMA'd it no problem.
The drive would go into some kind of loop and beep at every cycle. It
seemed that there was a problem around the area where the power cable
connects to the drive. Putting a small piece of cardboard between the
connector and the drive chassis stopped the problem you speak of, and
enabled me to get the data off the drive. Of course, I didn't say anything
about this to IBM, for fear of them rejecting the RMA.

You can download Findpart for DOS at

http://www.partitionsupport.com/utilities.htm

do from boot to a DOS floppy:

findpart tables fp.txt

and mail me the file fp.txt.

If the problem disk has many bad sectors, you may need a new disk
larger than the problem disk as part of the recovery procedure.

I had trouble with exactly the same kind of drive.

Did You ha a look an www.ontrack.com (EasyRecovery)
It takes years, but might find your data...

Good Luck, Thorsten
