I have autologin running fine for XPE but I have not had any luck with
IBM's Client Access. With the user account set to be exactly the same
for both the OS and Client Access the login to CA fails with an
"incorrect password" error. If the password is then manually entered
there is no problem. If CA is told to save the password for the next
login everything seems fine but the login fails. It appears as though
the password is not being save properly. EWF is installed although
disabled and other changes have been successful so it does not appear
to be an EWF issue.

Any ideas?

Unfortunately, I know almost nothing about the IBM's Client Access product. May only guess it is a remote access app to AS/400
mainframe or other servers of IBM?

Anyway, assuming it is a client problem, not a server one. What your image is based upon? Winlogon or Minlogon?

If Winlogon and by failure you mean it fails in default authentication in NTLM, do use have guest account enabled on runtime? Also,
try to set [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Control/Lsa/ForceGuest] key to 1 and see if it helps (depending on the group
policy set up on your system, the network access may or may not force network logons to use local accounts to authenticate as
guest).
