Hi All,

We have an IBM 4232 that is having a printing problem which is when it
prints some lines are good but some are faded.

I suspect the ribbon is not being advanced but that does not explain
why line 1 and 3 print OK but line 2 is faded. (just an example)

We have replaced the ribbon 5 times, and I am not sure what to do
next.

Any suggestions?

When you change the ribbon, does it print OK for a few lines? If it
fails right from the first line, it probably isn't a ribbon advance
problem. In fact, you say some lines are OK, and as it uses the same
ribbon, the ribbon doesn't seem like should be the problem.

Some of the high speed dot printers have multiple heads for speed. You
may have one head out of adjustment or worn wires.
