It is a desktop board & at present it is in a desktop case & not a tower but
I'm pretty sure it's a transplant.
I'm trying to find out the limit of CPU this will take?
It is a slot 1 SECC2 board that shows in CPU-Z as a Model 6862N2A mainboard.
It has 3 mem slots of 128 megs limit each slot.
At present it has a P3 450 in it but I'm wondering if it'll go to 600 or
even 800 EP ??
I've looked everywhere on IBM site but failed to find details of it.
The board isn't in my possession so can't look for further details.
Hoping for any info................ ??

About a year ago I had to reformat and reinstall one of these machines so I
know all the info you need is there on the IBM website somewhere - I just
can't remember where, sorry. But keep looking and ye shall find :o)

From memory if you remove the top of the case the PL300’s will have a
diagram for jumper settings for the various speed chips they
support.
I think the 450’s will support 550mhz max?

Some that read this will laugh but the IBM PL 300 were very stable and

not a slow system at all ..If only IBM could have made the cases
more
attractive?

Thank you all for the help.
I'm trying to advise someone over the other side of the country (Australia)
so unfortunately I don't get to see it.
If it does indeed have pins to set the speed then I might forget it because
it would be too risky to get them to do it. I was hoping for a manual. I
can't believe that IBM would be so retarded so as to not make it readily
available as a download.
Don't you just get spoilt by Toshiba etc with their support for really
antique equipment?
So good to just go look up the latest drivers, bios etc etc.
No wonder why I & lots others tend to steer people away from "some brand
names"??

I found the opposite. Had an old PL300 and found lots of tech manuals
etc. on the IBM website.
