What does this do? I got an attachment with the name of

I_search_for_you.zip.

There is some kind of image in the center of the email and it says because
of security reasons I need the password in the image to open that
attachment.

It is an Internet email worm. If you supply the password to the ZIP file, you risk being
infected.

Delete the email.

the image holds the password, the password unlocks the password
protected archive, the password protected archive holds an email worm
for you to execute...

basically it's a means to prevent email scanners from detecting the
email worm...

Why do you care? Pandora .. Box .. that sort of thing. I mean what can
it possibly do apart from infect and trash your PC, and/or turn you into
a remote zombie to infect/trash the rest of the WWW??

Ah, you thought it would make you rich, and irresistible to women??
I have some bad news for you ...

So Pandora's box it more attractive if it comes with a childishly simple
form of lock?? Delete it, and get on with your life. For extra brownie
points, run the email through spamcop, figure out where it really came
from, and tell them they are infected.

I care because I want to know what activity to look for on my computer in
case I was infected. I have my email reader set to read messages only in
plain text, so I do not think I was infected, but I would like to make sure.

In the future, GSV Pee Mind in a Van, could you not be so arrogant and a
waste of people's time with your shallow answers? Have you thought about
seeing a psychologist for your personality disorder?

It is not possible to get infected by a .zip file you never open. Even
WinXP, dumb as it is, only opens them far enough to list the contents,
which is still safe.

As to whether you =were= actually infected, your virus scanner is a much
better judge of that than 'can I see the activity associated with
virus/trojan X', given that all recent trojans go to great lengths to
make sure you will see as little as possible.

Actually I thought it was rather amusing, but I guess you've had the
sense of humour bypass as well as the 'how to use Google' removal (did
you try sticking '"I search for you" .zip virus' into Google and
pressing enter?? No you didn't did you).
Have you thought about
seeing a psychologist for your personality disorder?

Oh wait, before I go, your newsreader isn't chopping .sigs like it
should, which means it's probably Outlook Express, yep, it is .. in
which case you really ought dump it for a decent one before it does get
you in trouble
..
