It allows the printhead to be removed from the printer. Quick
and simple. At least that's how it is on the S9000.

Hmmm. Third opinion?

The lever at the TOP is for paper thickness. It flips
left or right. Note that on the printer itself near the center
(with the cover open) there are two icons -- one for an
envelope, one for a regular sheet.

The lever at the right-hand side of the head is to remove
the head. This lever flips forward or back.

Both are correct.

Nah, I'm just kidding.
I think Rafe is referring to a different lever.

The printhead release is a larger, gray lever on my MultiPass F50.
It may be blue on other models, and the thickness adjuster might be
a different color on the S9000.
