Hi,

I dont want to use the Canon paper anymore (colors fade with sunlight). So
which one should I use instead. Staple paper suck, same for Xerox. What
about epson paper or HP paper ?

Also, anyone tried the staple Ink cartridge for the i850 ?

From my knowledge, it's not that much of a paper's fault, but ink. All inks
fade, no matter which paper you use. I've heard that Canon's paper is very
good, but expensive.

nah its the papers fault.

I have 2 pictures printed the same day by the same printer on 2
differents papers (Canon and Xerox). They were both side by side
facing sunlight and only the Canon faded away.. The Xerox picture is
exactly like how it was printed.

SO by Xerox sucks you mean that photo is not good looking?

True, pictures printed on Xerox arent as good as on Canon paper but they
cost half the price and wont fade in the sun.

Acually , I shouldnt say that colors are fading. Its more like all the
picture (including white) is going yellow.

Aha...same was mentioned in another thread - Canon paper going yellow.
Damn...

Canon Photo Paper Pro Is the BEST,

Then:

Red River 68lb UltraPro Gloss,

Then A very close 3rd:

Office Depot Premium High Gloss Photo Paper!

ALL give EXCELLENT results......With most of the Cannon Photo
printers...from the Granddad 8200 to the latest 9000...!

We like Great White paper 92 brightness photo paper from Wally World.
(Wal-Mart) Its in a blue & white box. 100 sheets for $9.95. Pete

Olympus Pictorico is better than all these above.

Some great papers available on eBay. One gave me a better result
than Canon Photo Paper Pro at a fraction of the price. There are
deals of 100 4x6 for $10 (11 mil thickness). Other sizes too.
Experiment!

I am having very good results with Red River Ultra Pro Gloss with my i950.
Half the price on Canon Paper Pro.

I have a I850 printer. I tried a number of different papers.
On many of then the ink pooled and did not try them any
further. These were inexpensive brands such as Meredith,
Ink Max, Office Max, Great Quality, etc. The coating
also washed off under water.

Four brands of paper I have tried that didn't pool were
IBM, Canon, Epson, and Office Depot. I printed the
same picture on each. Initially Epson, Canon, and
Office Depot were close in that order. IBM was weak
on colors especially yellow. I made a test picture of
CYMRGB and scanned it. The scanner confirmed
my visual perceptions. Being a retired engineer
destructive testing came to mind next. I stapled the
pictures to a 2x4 so that half of each was protected
and put them on my patio in the sun. In the past
10 days the ambient temperature has ranged from 78
to 122 degrees F with the concrete going up to about
150 F. There were also two rain storms with the picture
allowed to get wet and dry naturally. The IBM paper
has faded and turned somewhat grey. An old looking
but still recognizable picture. The Epson has the most
vivid color, almost as printed, but about 10% of the
coating has flaked away in the lighter areas leaving
it totally white. The Canon has retained good color
but has a definite orange cast. The Office Depot
was the least water proof paper at the start. It has
retained the second best color but the finish has flaked
off in about 1% of the picture and has some water
spotting.

Based on this brutal test I would rate them Office Depot,
IBM, Canon, Epson. If the flaking is temperature related
and if the pictures are kept in a cool dry place the results
would be Epson, Office Depot, IBM and Canon with
fairly large and equal steps in the results.

I also sent the CYMRGB picture to Wal-Mart. Both the
visual and scanned results showed very poor color
performance.

If anyone is interested I can post scans of the images
so far.

If any one can supply a couple of 4x6 samples of their
favorite paper I can try them also. I keep hearing of
Red River paper but can't seem to find any to try.

I can be reached at (e-mail address removed)

Pete,

You mailed me a letter, but when I went to send my reply, Outlook Express
said there was a problem with your address.....

Anyways the answer is: Go to google + type in Red River Paper/Papers......

Joe,

I may have phrased it poorly about Red River paper.
All the other papers were purchased locally, I was hoping
to find a store locally that sold it. Dealing locally I can
either get a sample sheet or buy a package and return
unused portion if unsatisfied. Local merchants are very
cooperative about that. Mail order involves shipping
and is not worth the hassle factor.

Ray

cant find it in STORE.
I honestly am amazed that you did not understood that.

I never order from the webs for many reasons.
