Hi All,
I bought a brand new Acer Aspire 5050 it came with Windows MCE 2005. I
removed that and am trying to install WinXP Pro for the past couple of days
and am unable to get it to run stably. Sometimes during installation when it
goes over to the UI I get a blue screen with i8042prt.sys error. Then if it
does install succesfully after that, it freezes up quite a lot. Can someone
tell me what is goin on. Based on my research it says there is probably a
driver issue with the PS2 device driver, but I can't seem to find an updated
driver, besides the one that Microsoft has in windows.
Please help. I have work to do and can't use this laptop.
Hope that was enough info.
Thanks
Nik

This might not be a driver issue but an actual failure of the keyboard or
mouse port. Such a failure is not uncommon.

OK. so what are your suggestions if any?

Did you check the device manager for problems with hardware?
Is there anything in "other" in the device manager?
Try reinstalling with Windows MCE 2005 and see if the errors still occur.

Hey George,
There is no hardware issues, all drivers are properly loaded. In addition,
I'm running SuSe Linux 10.2 on this laptop and there is no keyboard issues.
