I would like to make a map of the US and on the map list all of our
locations, and also list the mileage between each facility. But I am
horrible; I don’t even know where I would begin. Is this something
PowerPoint could do?
You need a map of USA, possibly with states as separate objects. PPT has a
suitable map in its clipart collection (insert > ClipArt; let PPT search
Microsofts's server). Next convert it to PPT objects (right click > Edit
picture; after that right click > Group > ungroup). Now you can change the
colors of the states to what you like (or to what your corporate graphic
guidelines require).
After that, just add circles, your logo or other symbols to where the
locations are. Draw straight or curved lines between them. And type the
mileages, which you need to find out from somewhere else. (Perhaps measure
from a bigger map in a library; or perhaps an online system exists that can
tell the distances.)
PPT is a very natural tool to do these things.
