Bobbett

I hope someone can help me as I'm pretty computer illiterate. I just
got my pc back from being repaired (new motherboard) and had it about
two days when AVG warned me that I had a virus (the one named above).
AVG cured it by healing, but 24 hrs later, it was back again, and this
time AVG said it couldn't cure it nor quarantine it because
"C:\_RESTORE\TEMP\A0010127.CPY couldn't be moved".

HOW do I get rid of this virus? Is there a program that someone
definitely knows will remove this virus completely? My web searching
found that PAL Emergency Response for $20 said it would eliminate it,
unless there's an easier way that I can do it myself.

ANY help (in layman's terms please would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks
a bunch!

Also, HOW did I get this virus? The computer was clean when I got it
back last week. I have only dl'd one thing and I have NOT opened it
yet. I have not opened any email attachments, either. I'm running on ME.

You need to disable then re-enable system restore to clear the
remnants of the virus.

Some interesting info about the worm here..

Do you also have your computer firewalled? If not, do yourself a favour
and enable/install one. Some virii can infect your computer without any
interaction if they find a way in.

How do I enable one? Might there already be one on my system? If not,
do I buy one to install or dl it to install? Any suggestions on
type/brand? Thank you.

Zonealarm is a software firewall:

Kerio Personal Firewall is also available:
http://www.kerio.com/kpf_home.html

Indeed. Both of those are good. In the meantime Bobbett, you might want
to enable the inbuilt XP firewall. I think if you right click your
internet connection, select properties and go to the last tab, there will
be an option to turn it on there. I'm not in windows at the moment so I
cant give any more detailed instructions ;) Anyone else care to help?

Most firewalls will only prevent the bugs that get on your system from
'phoning home', or, sending information back to a site on the Internet. To
prevent these types of bugs from getting on your machine to start with, you
need a blocker. A very effective and highly recommended program is
SpywareBlaster. It is free. Find it here, and keep it updated with the
internal update engine:

SpywareBlaster: Free

Two other programs that you should make part of your security arsenal, are
the two below. Download and run the both, as what one does not find, the
other usually does. But sure to immediately update them after installing and
before running, and keep them updated regularly. You will find notices in
many places, sometimes here, but you can check for updates here:

Antiparasite Definition Updates

(for all programs listed here - )

Lavasoft updates (AdAware)

Actually, I think that you have that backwards.
