Someone in my house has managed to infect the PC with the above virus...
honestly, it wasn't me!
AVG has detected the virus, but doesn't offer means to remove the thing.
Is there anyway I can remove the virus?

Thank you

Oz

Yeah, sure. What was it? Gremlins?

....out on a limb, and taking a wild assed guess
(maybe even sticking my neck out)

Lets see, you receive a Mimail e-mail, your AV does its thing, and
your OS (ME or XP?) safeguards a copy of the malware in a special
folder. Your AV detects the malware (again) but is prevented from
taking any action due to its being in the aforementioned safeguarded
folder.

Where did AVG find this file?
Are you using Gremlin ME or Gremlin XP with the _restore folders?

If so, maybe all you will need to do is purge the restore points.

Disable restore.
Reboot
Re-enable Gremlin
Reboot again

Repeat every time "gremlins" infect (?) your computer.
