I am unable to write letters unless I use notepad, but I cant email from
that. I need to know how to download microsoft word for free or where would I
get the information to do this. I was told that all computers come with this
program so I don't know what the problem is. I am not so literate with
computers, but i sure hope someone can help me. Thank you in advance

This is not a Windows newsgroup, it's for .NET programming questions.

Having said that, you can'd download Word for free because Microsoft doesn't
give it away.
All computers do NOT come with Microsoft Word, so whoever told you that is
mistaken.

If you want to email people, all you need is an email program. Microsoft
Windows does come with a program called "Outlook Express" if you have
Windows XP or "Windows Mail" in the new Windows Vista. These programs give
you the ability to write nicely formatted emails.

It sounds like you want not only email, but also a word processing program
to save documents on your local machine (not for email). Again Windows XP
has a program better than Notepad called WordPad.

Or one could download OpenOffice for free from here:

It is not quite Microsoft Office but since the OP wants basic functions
from application packages (he is not so "literate with computers"), this
is exactly what he needs to get literate!.

Hope this helps him!

Kind of suspicious that the OP was claiming to not know much about
computers, and was having problems with e-mail. However, he or she was able
to post a message on a newsgroup. It's getting to the point where a huge
percentage of internet users don't even know what newsgroups are, let alone
how to post to them.

It looks to me like the OP came from a web based group, rather than a
newsgroup reader. That coupled with the fact that he posted to the wrong
group tells me that he really is a newbie - nothing too "suspicious" about
that.
