I want to reverse a Registry change

Hi,
First question:
If you do a repair installation, does it change your registry also?

Second Question:
I ran a PCpitstop diagnostic and then got some advice to change something in
my registry. It may have had something to do with allowing greater space for
something. Maybe for MFT?
I added a line entry somewhere in the registry and entered a decimal number
starting with 602... The number was something like 60242?
I cannot figure out exactly what I did or where I got the information. I
think it was suggested by PCpitstop but I cannot find it again to reverse the
changes.
All I know is that a large part of my harddrive is segregated and I want to
change it back to what it was.
I mean, things have been really weird with my system.
I would appreciate any help.
Thank you,
diowrite

Have you try to restore the system??? the next time you try to change a value
in the regedit you need to make a restoration point to undo the changes if
something wrong happen... I do recomend using tools to repair or delete
regedit values because they cause more damage that benefit

Hi LFR and Thanks.
I figured out what I had done and reversed it but it did not change the
large areas that are now segregated on my Harddrive. How annoying. I had
expanded the size of NTFS space reserved for MFT. I have tried everything and
I cannot get the space allocation back to a mere 12.5%. Drat.
I did try System Restore but, you know, I have never seen System Restore
work. I have tried to use it on two different harddrives and it never works.
Someday, I would like Microsoft to prove to me that System Restore is a REAL
feature that actually works. What a waste of disk space. Sheesh.
Anyway, thanks for trying to help LFR. Much appreciated.
Regards,
diowrite

Yes, a repair install will rewrite the registry.

This is a very bad practice. These 3ed party utilities are often wrong.

If you don't know what you are doing in the registry, don't do it,
particularly without a known good backup.

System Restore is the built-in utility for restoring the registry.

I would suggest doing a virus and spyware scan.

What exactly are you trying to accomplish here?

System Restore works perfectly here! What happens when you try to run
it?

restore:
