I have a Power Point presentation and an .avi file (for an animation part)
and I wish to send it in a format that it will work, even if the recipient
doesn't own Power Point. What do I do? Thanks.

This all hinges on how you inserted and linked the AVI file. Before you even
insert it in the presentation you MUST put it in the same folder as the
presentation. Then insert the AVI (from it's new location) and test your slide
show to make sure that it plays to your liking.

The end user must download and install the PowerPoint Viewer from
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...27-43ab-4f24-90b7-a94784af71a4&DisplayLang=en

Then you need to send the presentation file and the AVI file and ask them to
save the two files to a common folder.

Then the end user needs to open the PowerPoint Viewer and then open your
presentation.

Hi,

In addition to what Sonia has suggested. You can Keep the PPT and the avi in
the same folder and zip it using tools like winzip and could make an Self
Extracting Archive (SFX). Then send the SFX. Then the chance of the recipient
having the .avi and ppt in different locations is ruled out(ideal case).

Thanks,

Hi Sonia,
Thank you for your comments. Is there a way to embed the avi into the pps?
Is it okay to send the viewer with the file? This could make it easier for
the enduser. Thank you again for your kindness.

No, there is no way to embed the AVI and use the Viewer. Yes, you can
distribute the Viewer with your presentation, but that will probably make it too
large for email and you'll need to tell the recipient how to install it and use
it.

My preference is to create an autorun CD that contains everything needed and
nothing is stored or installed on the end user's system. In fact, you can find
a tool to do this at http://www.soniacoleman.com/Tutorials/PowerPoint/acdpc.htm,
or you can opt to do it yourself by following the info at
http://www.echosvoice.com/autoruncd.htm.
