I use xp, Outlook 02. I file all my contacts by Last name, First name as
well as display in the same format. My Personal Address Book is tied to my
contact list. When I put in contacts, my address book files some by last,
first and some by first last. I've tried to correct it in Contacts (by file
as) as well as address book (options, email accounts, view or change existing
address book, personal address book, change, show names by) and I still have
a mish-mash of last, first and first last. Any help? Thanks,

Outlook has not used a PAB for many years. PAB's are no longer supported.
Are you really using a PAB or have you just posted inaccurate information?
PAB's were never "tied" to the Contacts Folder.
Post more clearly.

Ok. When I open the address book, it searches the contacts list. In the
address book the names come up some first last, some last first. I'm trying
to get them all to appear the same. Contacts are set up as last, first and
last, first in "file as". I'd like the address book appearance to be by
last, first also so there would be a similar format. thank you.

EUREKA! That did it. I had done that before posting the first time but had
applied it to a Personal Address Book and not the Outlook Address Book. I
removed the PAB that was there (but was empty), then applied the changes you
suggested, restarted Outlook, and 'voila!' we're in business. Thanks very
much for your help.
