To type in my password each time I want to get my Mail, from Windows Mail, I
have no problem with this with Outlook Express. But everytime I open my mail,
I receive it, without putting in PW. I have been to tools, and have not put
my PW in there, nor have I checked it for it to be saved. HELP PLEASE :)

Well, I guess you can go to Tools, Accounts, your account, Properties,
Server tab, check on (My server requires authentication) and give the
credentials or not give them and see what happens.

Thanks, but tried that. It still remembers it. :( Whaaa

Well, your next options are to call the ISP and ask them what's the
difference between OE and WM on the authentication on their network and the
POP3 server or call MS.

FYI, email is a universal protocol that doesn't distinguish between operating
systems or mail clients.

Remove your mail account and then close and reopen WinMail and then add your
account back again without giving the password.

Hey Stever,
Been there, done that...........still dont work. The first time I put my
account in, ect, then do not give my PW, it will ask me for it. Perfect! Then
I will log out of mail, then when I hit the "Mail" button again, it
automatically gives me my mail. Without asking for PW. And in tools,
accounts, there is no PW there, and it is not checked "save"..........the
ONLY TIME it will re-ask me for my PW is if I restart the puter!
Can I put Outlook Express back on Vista? Thanks!

It is possible that the mail server is saving your credentials for a
limited time, as long as you connect from the same IP address.

I'm not sure what your concern is over the mail password being saved.
If others have access to your computer, there are ways to handle that.

How did you get it to do that? Mine won't even remember my password. I have
to retype the darned things each time I pick up my mail.

See yah later

Hey Gary, yep, others have access to my computer. This is why I liked how
outlook express would save my log in name only, and ALWAYS ask for my PW to
get my mail.......... what ideas do you have around it? Thanks.........

Seems we both want what eachother is getting :)....... Wish I could tell you
how I get it the way it is going, but I have really no clue......... I sorry

I think right now it is a bug.

You can password protect your Windows user login.
Then, when you are finished using the computer, do
Start > click on the bottom right arrow > Switch User.

You may have to try this, as explained in this KB article:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290684

Look at the fix under the directions for Windows XP. The same registry
key(s) in question also exist in Vista. Although the article leans in the
direction of a password not being retained, the registry edit should have
the results you are trying to achieve.

No. That won't work in Vista. They have transitioned to another means of
storing the passwords and they don't use the Protected Storage anymore.
