Since i upgraded to windows media 9 i can only down load
half of what i want and it stops and says error.I liked
the older version better. How can i get it back.I tried to
restore my computer to a earlier date with no change

have you checked at the player website for information?

microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/9series/player.aspx

there is always a learning curve with new stuff.

Try tools, options, genrl tab, select, connect to the internet,in performance set to th
proper signal connection
If restore wasnt on,or did'nt work youre stuck with wmp9,its the only way t
go back. But if you spend some real time with it youll find its the best wmp so far.

you don't say what operating system you are using....however in WinXP
.....put your WinXP disc into your cd-rom and re-boot your
computer...provided that you read from the cd-rom first, your computer will
boot from the disc. Do a system repair and you will have your old media
player back...drawback to this...you'll have to go and do all your windows
up-dates again...but you won't have lost any of your data.

I'm working with Microsoft on a problem with media player
hogging 100% of my cpu when listening to large (album
size) high bit rate Mp3s. As part of the
troubleshooting process they instructed me to unload
Media Player 9, and reload it. I don't know where you
would find an earlier version, but here is how to remove
it and the web address to reload it (version 9).

Good luck, Scott

note below from Microsoft tech support

Hello Scott,

I have checked all of the dll files that are loading
under explorer.exe. They are system files that required
by your system with the correct file version.

Based on our current status, I would recommend you
reinstall Windows Media Player as follows:

1. Click Start, click Run, type command and click OK

2. In the command prompt window, type the following
command (exactly, do not even add a space) and press
Enter:

rundll32.exe setupapi,InstallHinfSection uninstall 132
c:\windows\inf\wmp.inf

Note: I would like to verify if your system is installed
in drive C. If you have installed Windows Me to other
drive (such as drive D), change c:\windows\inf\wmp.inf to
d:\windows\inf\wmp.inf

3. Restart the computer.

To reinsatll Windows Media Player, please go to the
following web site:

Please try the suggestions shown above and let me know
the results. I look forward to hearing from you.
